Hi there I’m Michael Trigg, the Presentation Maestro, and I’d like to share a tip with you about presentation skills.
This next tip gives scientific backup to the previous tip.
Much research has been done into the power of and the dos and don’t s of face to face communication, but it is generally agreed that less than 10% of the importance of getting your meaning across to a strange audience is due to the content, over 90% is in the delivery. What you look like, where you look, how you look at people, what you scratch, how you move and how you use your voice.
This isn’t saying that content isn’t important, absolutely not, that you can be inaccurate or untruthful, not at all, but what it is saying is that if you have a really important message to get across to people, but that your voice is unutterably dull, or you have strange movements, it’s going to take away from the power of the communication. So how you say something has far more power than most people give credit for in getting your message across.
